Dave's Pet Food Restricted Diet – Phosphorus Chicken Dinner for Cats

This formula was developed with the help of a Veterinarian specializing in helping cats with kidney disease. Intended for cats who require a low-phosphorus diet, this Restricted Diet Phosphorus Formula contains low levels of phosphorus, to help manage kidney disease. This food is for Intermitted feeding only because of the low level of phosphorus.  AFFCO ( the organization that sets feeding guidelines) has determined this formula does not meet federal guidelines.  This food is intended for temporary feedings and not a permanent part of your cat's diet.  Once your cat gets better you can discontinue using this food. It also contains higher than normal amounts (for the standard "prescription" renal diet) of animal-based protein to support digestion and overall wellness. Our veterinarian suggested that higher levels of protein actually better support cats' carnivorous' bodies  — and it also improves the taste!

In a new Chicken & Chicken Liver Recipe, we've added more protein, all while keeping the phosphorus levels in check.

We think your cat will LOVE our new formula. And while we can't make any claims on its intended use or success, we think your vet will be pretty impressed by its ingredient and nutrient profile.

**THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT**

The formula does not have a lot of meat in it because there's not a lot of phosphorous in it....Because guess what the phosphorous is in the meat! 

So you may have to doctor up the food, even if you have to add in a little tuna or chicken or anything to mix with the food because your cat needs to eat. You do not want to starve your cat to death, and according to our vets, the biggest issue with cats as kidney disease progresses is they don't eat enough. So making sure your cat is eating enough is paramount!
